FAQs

Q: What range can I expect in real conditions?
A: Range depends heavily on terrain, assist level, rider weight, tyre pressure, and conditions. With a 522 Wh battery, expect ~ 40–80 km under moderate assist on mixed trails.

Q: Does it provide assist only when pedaling (no throttle)?
A: Yes — the system is a pedelec (pedal assist): the motor engages only when the pedals are turning, no throttle functionality mentioned in specs. Espokes+1

Q: What about steep climbs — can it handle them?
A: The 80 Nm torque helps enormously on hills; combined with the 10-speed Deore drivetrain, you should be able to manage quite steep gradients with assistance.

Q: Is servicing difficult?
A: Maintenance is similar to many eMTBs: periodic inspection of brakes, drivetrain, suspension, battery health. Hydraulic brakes may require occasional bleeding.

Q: What about warranty?
A: The Metis generally carries a 2‑year warranty on frame, motor, battery, controller (check local retailer).

UK Road Legal Disclaimer (EAPC / Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle)

To be legally ridden on UK roads as a normal bicycle (without tax, licence, registration, or insurance), an electric bike must comply with the UK EAPC regulations:

  • It must have pedals that can propel it (i.e. not throttle-only).
  • The motor’s continuous (nominal) power output must not exceed 250 W.
  • The motor must cut assistance at 15.5 mph (≈ 25 km/h) — no assist beyond that speed.
  • The e-bike must show the manufacturer’s name and power rating.

The Metis 27.5 eMTB is spec’d with max assist speed 25 km/h. However, its motor is rated 80 Nm torque, which is a performance spec, not continuous power. I did not find a clear specification confirming that its continuous nominal power is ≤ 250 W.

Therefore:

If the delivered unit does have a 250 W nominal rating and cuts assist at 25 km/h, it can be UK‑road legal as an EAPC.

If the motor or controller allows output above 250 W or assist beyond 25 km/h, it may not be compliant.

Any modifications (e.g. reprogramming the controller, adding “boost” modes) may invalidate legality.

Always confirm with your vendor that the unit supplied meets EAPC specs.

Important: This disclaimer does not constitute legal advice. Always check governing laws in your jurisdiction and verify the specifications of the model you receive.
